I started my mindfulness journey pretty early on, as I was studying psychology in uni and had some exposure to meditation since young. But honestly, I always hated it. Couldn't see how it helped.
Interestingly, in 2022 when I had covid for the first time, I realised I had to come face to face with my fears and with myself, every single day. It was honestly painful. I'm so thankful though, that while being sick, I also had some spare time to watch YouTube videos and I came across a monk named Nick Keomahavong and he introduced Pa Pae meditation retreat, a centre located at Chiang Mai and Koh Samui. After I recovered, I immediately felt the urge to book a flight there, and I did. It brought me deeper into my inner world and I'm always thankful things happened the way it did
And this is how my mindfulness/meditation journey started :) going deeper into Buddhism teachings was definitely something I benefited from as well through the process and I never look back since.
Thank you for doing what you're doing, Erin! Our world needs more of this. :)
Hey Jillian! Thank you for getting the ball rolling in this thread. :) Loved hearing your story, and I think it's amazing that you found your practice this way. We cannot force ourselves to be ready until the conditions are right, and I'm glad this has been working for you. Please continue to share your insights and wisdom at nián Life, for our collective benefit. :)
