The feeling during today’s practice and afterwards was "calm".
At the beginning, when I started paying attention to my breath, I started breathing abnormally (I don’t know if this happens to anyone else), it’s like whenever I starting paying attention to how I’m breathing I forget how to do it naturally for a few seconds. But once that passed, the general sensation was of calmness, I felt grounded to the moment, and I still fell this way right now.
Hi Sara, thank you for sharing your reflection - these are precious observations. Indeed, it's quite common for us to observe "abnormal" breathing when we first start learning to attend to the breath. We don't usually pay attention to the breath and we forget that the body knows how to breathe on its own. What's interesting for me is to notice the tendency to want to control something (the breath) we don't need to control. And you're right, we just have to come back to our practice and we will naturally stop engaging with what's unnecessary. I'm so glad you shared this!
