We may be tempted to assume that mindfulness is all about awareness — noticing the breath, the body, the moment.
Yet, awareness on its own is not enough. It is not the destination, but the doorway.
Behind it lies the skill of discernment — the quiet wisdom of seeing clearly and knowing what truly supports the body, nurtures the mind, and nourishes the heart.
To live better is to choose wisely.
It is to notice where agitation takes root, and where peace resides.
It is to sense which people, places, and patterns deplete our spirit, and which uplift it.
Living better does not demand some grand change, it only asks for our attention. So that we prioritise rest over exhaustion, presence over distraction, simplicity over clutter, calm over chaos.
In each moment of our practice, we are refining our inner compass to point more consistently toward steadiness, freedom, and meaning. Mindfulness guides the way in choosing how we live.
This week, gently ask yourself:
What does living better mean to you?
What might you release to live with more lightness and ease?
Perhaps it can begin with a small shift — a gentle letting go of something or someone, or a soft returning to what matters most.
In remaining aware and discerning, we remember to live better.
In this Take A Pause session recorded on 7 September 2025, the TAP community reflected on what it means to live better.
At the end of our meditation, we listened to Get Your Priority Straight by Hakim F. Mansaray. We also practiced some metta, or loving kindness.
Meditation begins: 05:10
Reading begins: 29:01
Loving-kindness begins: 31:05

Take A Pause: Book Release
For a while now, I’ve been quietly tending to something close to my heart — my first book. After so many rounds of starting and stopping, editing and rewriting, I am glad that it’s finally ready.
