I’ve heard people say that meditation is for “the weak” and “the soft.”
But in my own experience, I’ve found the opposite to be true.
Meditation has made me stronger.
And it takes real strength to choose meditation.
In this practice, strength isn’t something we seek outside of ourselves.
It’s found within, when we turn inward with mindful awareness and discover a quiet resilience waiting to be cultivated.
This kind of strength is not about performance.
It’s about presence.
It’s learning to stop pushing so hard, letting go of the goals and outcomes we’ve been chasing.
It’s choosing to stay—not just still in meditation, but steady through the turbulence of life.
We don’t meditate to escape discomfort or difficulty.
We meditate to meet them, with courage and clarity. Without judgment. Without reactivity.
This is where we become stronger, by staying present with what’s hard, instead of turning away.
Strength can be found in loosening our grip. In releasing control, in trusting ourselves to meet life as it is.
There’s also strength in allowing space for weakness and vulnerability.
In offering ourselves gentleness. In choosing compassion over criticism.
And finally, there’s strength in showing up. Again and again. In the discipline of practice. Even on the days when it’s hardest.
In this Take A Pause livestream session recorded on 13 April 2025, the TAP community practiced finding strength in open awareness and staying with the physical experience of the body.
We closed the session by mindfully listening and contemplating the poem “You Are Enough” by Poetic Solace.
Meditation Begins: 09:26
Reading Begins: 29:46
Practice Duration: 20 minutes
— Poetic Solace
You are not the noise of the world,
But the quiet strength it cannot steal.
Not the wounds you hide in shadows,
But the light that dares to heal.
Every flaw you see in the mirror,
Is a story of battles you have won.
Like the cracks in a weathered stone,
You are shaped by what you have overcome.
You are not a fleeting moment,
But the rhythm of an eternal song.
Not a question waiting for answers,
But the truth that's been there all long.
So, stand tall in the storm's embrace,
Let your roots sink deep in the soil.
You are enough – just as you are –
A masterpiece in your own termoil.
