Nian- Thanks for sharing this. I love the apple analogy. But I love her answer to the need to have many friends. Most of all, I love that now I have a movie that I can add to my list of must-watch. :) Hope you're well-
I hope you are well too Thalia, and I'm glad to know you have added YOLO to your must-watch list. Do let me know your thoughts and insights after watching it!
“The most generous thing you can do for your future, is to give your all to the present.”
The sentiment of focusing on the present to shape the future is profound and often underestimated. Le Ying's story beautifully illustrates the power of consistent effort and dedication towards a goal, no matter how distant it may seem.
One insight that emerges from Le Ying's journey is the importance of incremental progress. Often, when faced with monumental goals, we can feel overwhelmed and demotivated by the sheer magnitude of what lies ahead. However, breaking down the journey into smaller, manageable steps not only makes it more achievable but also allows us to celebrate the progress along the way. Each pound shed, each mile run, and each punch thrown represented a victory in itself for Le Ying, reinforcing her commitment and fueling her determination to continue.
"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step"
Thanks Anfernee for sharing your favourite quote from the movie. This is also one that resonates deeply within me. And I'm sure that for you this resonance must come from deep within, given the work that you have done and are doing. :)
The story and the seven lessons drawn are all so true and meaningful and are beautifully explained; the last one, is specially meaningful, because so often in our lack of self assurance and self worth the need for outside validation and affirmation becomes so strong that we forget to see our own worth and to love and respect ourselves, we are overshadowed by those other people in our lives to whom we unthinkingly give that power;only with the latter will begin the transformation, not easy, but as you have explained it will come ,one step at a time ,by being in the present and by believing in ourselves, and being happy with who we are; thank you for sharing, Erin
Well said on the 7 wisdom of looking at ourselves. Be comfortable and confident with ourselves, it’s not about being inward working, rather don’t try to live in someone else’s shadow.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Samuel! Yes, and sometimes to understand that living in someone else’s shadow is not working for us first requires us to start looking inward. ☺️🙏🏼
