In a world that prizes speed and glorifies busyness - often at the cost of our health and wellbeing, let’s not be afraid of stillness.
Stillness is the ground of transformation, and our gateway to freedom.
Stillness is not merely the absence of movement, nor a form of restriction. Rather, stillness creates the space for us to dwell in a state of presence, where moments of awakening unfold.
In mindfulness, stillness in the mind and body is essential because it creates the conditions for awareness to deepen, insights to emerge, and real growth to take root.
The practice of stillness invites us to fully inhabit the present moment, allowing us to see things as they truly are.
When we pause in stillness, we gain clarity on our habitual tendencies and patterns that no longer serve us well. With this awareness, we learn to respond to life with more skillfulness and wisdom, rather than reacting impulsively.
The ability to remain still amid chaos means that we have more room within to navigate challenges with greater ease and resilience.
Freed from constant stimulation and being tossed around by external circumstances, we begin to see the deeper truths of life and discern a path that is more wholesome, nourishing, and aligned with our wellbeing.
In this Take A Pause episode recorded live on 17 November 2024, the TAP community embraced stillness of body and mind in our practice. At the end of the meditation, we listened mindfully to a reading from Deborah Eden Tull’s Relational Mindfulness.
